QB plus the two highest-projected receiving teammates, ranked by combined projection. This compares a three-player core, not a complete lineup or simulated ROI. Ownership is each player’s projected field share; adding it gives cumulative ownership, not the probability of that exact stack.

Afternoon Only: the three-game decision
This is a separate Afternoon Only slate: Buffalo–Las Vegas, Arizona–Los Angeles Rams, and Kansas City–Los Angeles Chargers. The uploaded file has 155 salary rows from six teams. Eighty-two players have positive projections: six quarterbacks, nineteen running backs, thirty-two receivers, nineteen tight ends and six defenses. Main and Early recommendations are not automatically eligible here. There is no Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Tyler Shough or Chicago passing stack in this pool.
The supplied totals separate into two scoring environments and one lower-total alternative. Buffalo–Las Vegas is at 53.5, Rams–Arizona is at 51.5, and Chiefs–Chargers is at 41.5. The Rams lead team implied points at 32, followed by Buffalo at 29.5, Kansas City at 24.5, Las Vegas at 24, Arizona at 19.5 and the Chargers at 17. These are snapshot values, not independently checked current betting lines.
Allen has the best quarterback projection by 5.61 points over Stafford. Puka has the best receiver projection by 8.95 points over Adams. Cook, Walker and Kyren sit much closer together at running back: only 0.96 projected points separate them. McBride and Bowers are nearly tied at tight end, with a large gap to Kelce and Kincaid. Those projection shapes matter more than assuming every expensive position should be treated identically.
The cash starting point is to compare an Allen build against a Stafford build, then decide which premium receiver or tight end the savings support. Kyren and Cook are the first running-back price comparisons, while Worthy supplies useful receiver relief. At tight end, McBride is the premium efficiency comparison and Mayer is the inexpensive alternative. The complete roster should drive the final choice; selecting the raw leader at each position can leave too much weak filler.
For tournaments, decide how to participate in the two strongest environments. An Allen passing build, a Cook-led Buffalo branch, a Stafford passing build and a Kyren-led Rams branch are meaningfully different stories. A Chiefs–Chargers stack is the lower-total alternative, not an automatic source of good leverage. On a three-game slate, some popular players can remain correct decisions. Differentiate with salary allocation, secondary partners and coherent touchdown distribution rather than by fading everyone the field likes.
Reading the snapshot correctly
Prepared October 17, 2026, this article uses the uploaded Afternoon Only salary, projection and ownership fields. The file does not independently provide a verified slate date, kickoff schedule, official DraftKings ID match or current inactive report. Team assignments and matchup descriptions follow the uploaded model. Check the official slate and starters before entering a contest. A projection or supplied starting-status value is not an independent availability confirmation.
Ownership is a field-estimate input, not a personal exposure instruction or a measured outcome. The six quarterback estimates sum to 117%, while the six defense estimates sum to 78%. A completed classic field would have one QB and one DST per lineup, so these raw estimates are not jointly calibrated positional probabilities. The figures below are retained as supplied for comparison; they should not be fed into a field generator as if they were already normalized and roster-consistent.
Floor and ceiling remain the supplied columns, not verified percentiles. A player with a low mean and a large ceiling is not necessarily more likely to achieve a tournament-winning score than another player. None of this draft has a completed contest-specific ROI ranking. Sixteen exact Afternoon contest profiles are included in this update, and any research lineup example still needs official salary-ID and availability checks.
Afternoon game board
| Game | Supplied total | Implied points | Primary construction |
|---|---|---|---|
| BUF–LV | 53.5 | BUF 29.5 / LV 24.0 | Allen passing; Cousins reverse stack |
| LAR–ARI | 51.5 | LAR 32.0 / ARI 19.5 | Stafford passing; Kyren rushing; Arizona receiving return |
| KC–LAC | 41.5 | KC 24.5 / LAC 17.0 | Selective Mahomes stack; Worthy value; rushing/defense branch |
Buffalo–Las Vegas: premium quarterback, flexible partners
Allen’s $7,500 salary buys a 26.33 projection, comfortably ahead of every other quarterback. Buffalo also carries 29.5 implied points. He is the cleanest raw quarterback anchor, but his 42.6% ownership estimate means a popular Allen lineup needs thought elsewhere. An Allen rushing touchdown can produce a strong quarterback score without helping a receiver, so he does not require a double stack in every tournament construction.
DJ Moore leads Buffalo receivers at 13.40 projected points for $5,600. Dalton Kincaid at $5,100, Khalil Shakir at $5,300 and Keon Coleman at $4,900 are additional correlation choices. Moore–Kincaid gives a receiver/tight-end version; Moore–Coleman gives a different salary and scoring distribution. Do not force a secondary Buffalo player simply because Allen is already selected. James Cook III is a strong independent running-back option at 19.68 projected points, but Allen–Cook needs a whole-offense scoring case rather than an assumed passing-touchdown link.
Las Vegas supplies the return choices: Brock Bowers at $7,500, Ashton Jeanty at $6,500 and Tre Tucker at $4,700. Bowers is the clearest receiving projection at 17.16, while Tucker costs much less. Kirk Cousins at $5,400 with Bowers is the reverse game-stack branch. Michael Mayer at $3,200 is a low-cost alternative, not an automatic replacement for Bowers’ projected production.
Arizona–Los Angeles: enormous Rams ceiling, concentration risk
Los Angeles carries the highest supplied team implied total at 32 points. Stafford is second among quarterbacks at 20.72 points for $6,400; Puka is first among receivers at 23.64 for $8,100. Stafford–Puka is therefore a natural baseline passing stack. Puka’s 70.0% estimated ownership makes him expensive chalk, but fading the highest receiver projection requires a real alternative rather than a reflexive attempt to be different.
Davante Adams supplies the second receiver route at $6,600 and 14.69 projected points. Stafford–Puka–Adams is expensive and makes a concentrated passing-touchdown bet. Tyler Higbee at $3,400 is the cheaper tight-end branch at 7.72 points. Colby Parkinson is another possible receiving alternative, but his 5.51 projection means he needs a more specific scoring outcome. Kyren at $6,800 and 18.72 points is attractive in cash discussions and in a Rams rushing-success branch. Blake Corum’s 8.56 projection does not justify assuming Kyren’s workload disappears.
Arizona’s 19.5 implied points trail considerably. That makes an opposing return optional when the Rams can win comfortably. McBride is the strongest Arizona receiving projection at 17.30 and 31.4% estimated ownership; Michael Wilson is next at 13.68. A Stafford–Puka–McBride construction uses the return slot at tight end. Jacoby Brissett with McBride is a less popular reverse branch that needs Arizona passing volume to translate into fantasy production.
Kansas City–Los Angeles Chargers: a useful value receiver without forcing the quarterback
Kansas City is implied for 24.5 points in a game totaled at 41.5. Mahomes projects for 17.66 points at $6,500, behind Cousins despite costing $1,100 more in this Afternoon snapshot. His 13.7% estimated ownership makes him a tournament possibility, but that price/projection gap means he is not the default value choice. A Mahomes roster should express a specific Kansas City passing-ceiling outcome.
Worthy is different: $4,600, 13.08 projected points and 35.7% estimated ownership. He is useful salary relief even outside a full Kansas City stack. Kelce at $5,500 and 9.78 points is the premium-name alternative whose cost still needs to fit the model. Jalen Royals at $3,300 and 7.32 points is a cheaper double-stack branch; Cyrus Allen at $3,500 and 5.38 is deeper. Kenneth Walker III projects for 18.88 at $8,500. His supplied floor and ceiling are appealing, but his mean projection per dollar trails several other expensive backs.
Herbert costs $5,000 and projects for 14.03 on the other side. Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and Oronde Gadsden II are his main listed receiving options. Their current projections keep this a selective stack rather than a portfolio foundation. Omarion Hampton and Keaton Mitchell provide running-back alternatives. Using a Chargers return should improve the construction’s game story, not simply satisfy a blanket rule.
Quarterbacks: rankings, cash choices and tournament branches
The raw order is Allen, Stafford, Cousins, Mahomes, Brissett and Herbert. Allen costs $7,500 and projects for 26.33, compared with Stafford at $6,400 and 20.72. That $1,100 buys 5.61 additional projected points, an unusually clear quarterback gap. Allen therefore deserves the first cash comparison. The question is whether an alternative quarterback allows enough upgrades elsewhere to overcome the difference.
Stafford is the second cash construction to evaluate. His team has the highest implied points, and Puka offers the strongest individual receiving projection. A Stafford–Puka pairing costs $14,500, while Allen–DJ Moore costs $13,100. That comparison shows why the quarterback decision cannot be made in isolation: the lower-priced quarterback can still lead to the more expensive stack if its primary receiver costs much more.
Cousins is the salary-saving alternative at $5,400 and 18.67 projected points. He saves $2,100 versus Allen but concedes 7.66 mean points. A Cousins–Bowers pairing costs $12,900, only $200 less than Allen–Moore. That is not a like-for-like ceiling comparison, but it illustrates how paying down at QB does not necessarily create large savings once the chosen receiving partner is included. Cousins–Tucker is a much cheaper receiving route.
Mahomes costs $6,500 and projects for 17.66, while Brissett costs $5,800 for 17.28. Their tournament cases need a specific passing distribution and a complete roster that benefits from the decision. Mahomes–Worthy or Mahomes–Kelce can capture Kansas City passing output; Brissett–McBride or Brissett–Wilson can capture Arizona volume in a trailing script. Neither should be selected simply because Allen is popular.
Herbert costs $5,000 and projects for 14.03, making him the cheapest of the six but also the lowest mean. His 3.2% ownership estimate is a reason to inspect a Chargers passing-ceiling branch, not proof that it is a good bet. A cheap quarterback still occupies the only QB slot. Before accepting the projection loss, identify exactly which expensive players the savings buy and why those combined outcomes can outweigh the loss.
Running backs: the price comparison is stronger than the ownership reaction
Cook leads the running-back board at 19.68 for $7,400. Kyren projects for 18.72 at $6,800. Walker is between them in raw points at 18.88, but costs $8,500. For cash construction, begin with Kyren and Cook as the clearest price comparisons. Walker’s supplied floor and ceiling are strong, but those columns do not remove the $1,700 premium over Kyren for just 0.16 additional mean points.
The ownership estimates are 65.2% for Walker, 59.7% for Kyren and 37.6% for Cook. The most-owned back is therefore not the raw projection leader or the cheapest of the leading three. A Cook-centered tournament construction can retain quality while changing the field’s popular running-back allocation. That does not establish Cook as direct leverage on Walker; it is a comparison of salary, projected scoring and estimated field preference across different games.
Jeanty costs $6,500 and projects for 14.30. His 38.4% estimate means he is not a hidden alternative. He can return an Allen passing stack or lead a Las Vegas rushing branch, but compare his $300 savings versus Kyren with the 4.42-point projection difference. Paying for a game story does not make the raw points tradeoff disappear.
Allgeier is the meaningful cheaper comparison at $4,800 and 12.02 points. His 23.2% estimated ownership also shows that the field can identify salary relief. He may allow a premium tight end or Puka without forcing multiple low-projection receivers. His supplied floor of 2.35 emphasizes the risk. Do not assume that the cheaper salary carries a secure workload; the file alone does not provide a verified touch distribution.
Hampton at $5,300 and 10.04 is a lower-owned tournament branch at 4.0%. Corum, Mitchell and Ty Johnson are deeper alternatives whose projections are 8.56, 7.62 and 6.96. They should not receive equal treatment with the leading backs. Corum’s role is especially different from simply replacing Kyren’s projection. A backup or secondary back needs a coherent route to meaningful scoring, not just a cheap number next to his name.
In an Allen–Cook lineup, acknowledge that rushing touchdowns can shift scoring between the quarterback and running back. Both can still succeed if Buffalo scores enough, and receiving involvement can add positive links. The same applies to Stafford–Kyren and Mahomes–Walker. These are whole-offense constructions rather than automatic passing correlations. Avoid pairing every quarterback with his back as a substitute for choosing an appropriate receiving partner.
Wide receivers: Puka first, then the roster around him
Puka costs $8,100 and projects for 23.64 points. Adams, second among receivers, projects for 14.69 at $6,600. Puka’s $1,500 premium buys 8.95 mean points. That makes him the first cash receiver benchmark and a difficult tournament fade to justify purely on ownership. At a 70% estimate he will appear in many hypothetical field rosters, but the projection gap is substantial.
Adams is still useful. In a Rams passing-ceiling outcome, he can capture scoring that would otherwise make Puka’s popular roster share more valuable. A Stafford–Adams stack without Puka is a specific touchdown-distribution bet. Stafford with both receivers is a larger concentration in passing output and consumes substantial salary. A construction using Puka alone with another quarterback is a different way to capture his projection without tying the QB slot to Stafford.
Michael Wilson projects for 13.68 at $6,700, while DJ Moore projects for 13.40 at $5,600. Their similar raw points and $1,100 price gap are worth attention. Wilson is an Arizona receiving return in a Rams stack, while Moore is the highest Buffalo receiving projection. They are not interchangeable once the game structure is considered. Wilson’s 26% estimate and Moore’s 14.5% estimate also suggest different field preferences.
Worthy costs $4,600 and projects for 13.08. He is a central value candidate, even though his 35.7% estimate makes him popular. His projection trails Moore by only 0.32 for $1,000 less, and Wilson by 0.60 for $2,100 less. That is useful salary efficiency. A quarterback stack can include Worthy, but he can also be a one-off when the rest of the lineup is built around Buffalo or Los Angeles.
Tucker at $4,700 and 10.79 is a cheaper Las Vegas receiving return than Bowers. McConkey and Shakir cost $5,300 and project for 9.37 and 9.05. Coleman at $4,900 is a Buffalo alternative at 7.99. They can matter in a double stack, but the salary and projection difference from Moore should stay visible. Do not double stack Allen solely because three Buffalo receivers are available.
Bourne at $4,000 and 8.46, Royals at $3,300 and 7.32, and Johnston at $5,000 and 6.73 are deeper decisions. Royals can help a Mahomes construction afford premium players elsewhere, but his projection does not guarantee a strong receiving role. Cyrus Allen, Cody White and Nailor sit further down the model. Their inclusion should express a specific workload or touchdown assumption, not a belief that all low-owned receivers are equally good tournament plays.
Tight ends: premium projection versus useful salary relief
McBride leads tight ends at 17.30 for $7,200, narrowly ahead of Bowers at 17.16 for $7,500. McBride is therefore the first premium efficiency comparison in this snapshot. Bowers participates in the highest-total game and can pair with Cousins or return an Allen stack. McBride can pair with Brissett or return Stafford–Puka. Choose the complete construction rather than treating the tight ends as identical because their mean projections are close.
Kelce is next at 9.78 for $5,500 and Kincaid follows at 9.54 for $5,100. Both cost less than the premium pair, but the raw point drop is large. Kincaid saves $2,100 versus McBride while conceding 7.76 projected points. Whether that is worthwhile depends on the upgrades elsewhere. Kelce’s familiar name does not itself create value beyond the supplied projection and the Kansas City stack he supports.
Mayer costs $3,200 and projects for 7.91, while Higbee costs $3,400 and projects for 7.72. Those are the first cheaper comparisons. Mayer’s estimate is 11.4% versus Higbee’s 28.1%, despite Mayer being cheaper and slightly higher in mean. That can make Mayer an interesting alternative when he fits the game story. It is not direct leverage unless his scoring changes the chances of a popular teammate or construction succeeding.
Gadsden, Parkinson and Knox are next among the lower-priced partners. Parkinson’s 5.51 projection and 1.5% estimate differ substantially from Higbee’s role in the model. Knox has the same mean at $2,600 and a 1.0% estimate. Either needs a real scoring explanation; low ownership is not enough. Kolar at $2,500 is deeper relief, with 4.56 projected points. The full table retains all nineteen positive tight ends so the smaller names remain visible.
A two-tight-end roster is legal with a tight end in flex, but it should earn the slot. McBride–Bowers is a premium receiving concentration that can make sense when cheap receivers and backs still provide enough points. Mayer with a premium tight end can be a different salary structure. Do not add a second tight end merely because the receiver pool feels thin; compare him with the best affordable RB or WR available for that flex salary.
Defense: cheapest is not automatically best, expensive is not automatically safe
Kansas City leads defense projection at 7.02 for $3,600. The Rams follow at 6.38 for $3,800. The Chargers cost only $2,100 and project for 5.10, making them a meaningful salary-relief comparison. Saving $1,500 versus Kansas City concedes 1.92 mean defensive points. That can be a sensible roster trade when the savings buy a much larger skill-position improvement, although the actual game outcome can still make the cheaper defense fail.
Buffalo costs $3,100 for 4.40, Las Vegas $2,400 for 3.25, and Arizona $2,000 for 2.60. Salary alone does not guarantee a useful choice. An Arizona defense lineup with Puka and multiple Rams receivers fights its own game story. The same issue appears when stacking Allen against the Raiders defense. Avoid large opposing offense/defense combinations unless there is a deliberate, unusual scoring thesis behind them.
A running back with his own defense can align with a favorable game script, but it is not a guarantee of correlation. Walker–Chiefs and Kyren–Rams are plausible game-control branches. They can lose together if the opponent sustains drives or the touchdowns go through passing. On three games, a defense decision may differentiate a roster without forcing a bad offensive play, but never call a defense a lock.
Cash construction: a practical order of operations
Start with Allen and a leading running back, then compare the best complete lineup you can build with Stafford instead. The quarterback downgrade is 5.61 projected points. It must be repaid by the salary upgrades elsewhere. Cousins saves more but costs a larger raw quarterback projection. Evaluate the whole roster after each change; a cheap quarterback can still lead to expensive receiver and tight-end partners.
At running back, begin with Kyren and Cook as the price-efficient leading pair. Consider Allgeier when the rest of the roster needs relief, and compare Jeanty with the expensive alternatives without assuming his game total erases his mean deficit. At receiver, Puka is the raw anchor and Worthy is the first useful savings comparison. Moore can complement an Allen build, while Tucker or Bourne can serve different price and game needs.
At tight end, decide whether the roster can afford McBride or Bowers without introducing too many thin secondary players. If it cannot, compare Mayer and Higbee first. The cheapest defense can help, but a $100 salary gain is not worth abandoning a materially stronger full-lineup projection. Leaving a little salary unused can be acceptable when the resulting roster is stronger; spending exactly $50,000 is not an independent objective.
Cash does not need a forced double stack, compulsory run-back or a lineup ownership target. A receiver sharing a quarterback’s passing output can be useful, but a high-floor-looking roster can still be fragile if too many pieces depend on one team’s specific touchdown allocation. Check active status and role before treating the supplied model as usable. The examples below illustrate salary allocation and remain research examples, not a validated cash guarantee.
GPP construction: five scoring branches to preserve
First, build Buffalo through Allen’s passing ceiling with Moore, Kincaid, Shakir or Coleman in different combinations. Use a Las Vegas return when sustained competition is important to the lineup’s ceiling. Bowers costs much more than Tucker, so the return choice changes the entire salary structure. Do not assume a single preferred Buffalo receiver must appear in every Allen lineup.
Second, build a Cook-led Buffalo branch in which rushing touchdowns reduce the need to pay for Allen’s quarterback ceiling. Cook can remain paired with a different game’s quarterback. That creates a meaningful distinction from merely swapping one Buffalo receiver while preserving the same main outcome. It can still fail if Allen accounts for the key rushing and passing touchdowns himself.
Third, build the Rams through Stafford with Puka, Adams or a cheaper tight-end partner. An Arizona McBride or Wilson return is optional if the Rams can reach their scoring ceiling without a competitive finish. Fourth, preserve Kyren-led Rams constructions that depend on rushing touchdowns and game control. Puka can still be present, but understand the scoring concentration needed for the full combination to succeed.
Fifth, keep a selective Kansas City or Chargers passing branch. Mahomes–Worthy–Royals, Mahomes–Kelce, and Herbert with McConkey or Gadsden are different salary stories. Their lower game total makes it especially important not to overstate the quality of low ownership. A lower-owned lineup that lacks enough points is not improved merely by being different from the field.
In a 150-lineup portfolio, track game concentration as well as individual players. Several reasonable player caps can still produce 150 lineups that depend on Puka and Allen together. Conversely, forcing too many low-projection players can produce diversity without quality. Keep a supported core, rotate secondary passing partners and use different salary structures. A minimum one-player difference is a roster-uniqueness check, not a sufficient measure of outcome diversification.

Five complete research lineup examples
These salary-legal examples maximize supplied projection subject to each stated core. They illustrate construction, not five independently simulated recommendations. They do not include validated DraftKings IDs, injury checks or exact contest ownership/duplication modeling. Overlap is intentional for comparison; this is not a diversified five-entry portfolio.

Contests, simulations and the comparison file
The exact Afternoon contests are pending. A lineup can have a strong projection without being the best entry for a particular fee, field size, payout ladder or entry cap. Cash rate, first-place rate, expected profit and simulated ROI answer different questions. Do not label the example rosters as having a positive simulated ROI until an appropriate contest simulation has actually run with complete inputs.
For a 5,000-candidate search, retain the full simulated pool and then choose the top 150 using the intended objective and portfolio constraints. A single-entry contest can be researched with thousands of candidates, but its actual submission limit remains one. A research candidate count and a final contest entry count are different controls. Stack percentage shares need whole-lineup counts; locked players, exclusions and official roster legality remain hard checks.
Before simulation, reconcile the field model with the positional ownership inconsistency described above. A full simulated classic field must contain one quarterback and one defense in each roster, along with legal salary and skill-position counts. Simply sampling the raw estimates independently will not recreate that. Correlated passing stacks also mean player ownership shares cannot be multiplied as if every roster slot were independent.
Save the precise selected lineups, their order, the projection/ownership snapshot, the contest ladder and the completed simulation count before lock. Later compare the saved rosters with settled contest standings, including ties and actual payout bands. A live snapshot with time remaining cannot establish a final winner or final cash line. A lineup rebuilt after seeing the results is retrospective analysis, not the same test as a preserved pregame recommendation.
Finally, verify all six quarterback assignments, player availability, official salaries and DraftKings IDs. Late changes can alter a receiver’s role, a backfield split and the opponent defense together. Rebuild from updated assumptions when those conditions change. Keep Afternoon separate from Early and Main so a news adjustment or ownership update in one slate does not silently become a different recommendation in another.
